An Overview of Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP)

07, January 2026

BSRP, or Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project, can be a game changer for Bangalore.

The country's tech capital has been notorious for its traffic congestion and is currently, with its increasing population, only going to get worse in the future.

The Namma Metro scheme and the roadway could only help in a part, but as mentioned before, these will also fall inadequate as the city gets crowded. Thus, the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project is the next big hope for decongesting Bangalore city.

The recent Whitefield Metro rail project and the upcoming East Bangalore metro connectivity have actually sped up the hopes for BSRP now. Though it was on the cards for a long time, last June 21, 2022, the Hon Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, laid the foundation stone for the project and set a deadline of 40 months for the completion of BSRP.

K-RIDE, or Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited, will execute the project.
