A Brief History of Aero India

Aero India made it's debut in 1996 in Bangalore, and over the years, it has transformed into one of Asia's largest airshows, drawing participants from across the globe. The events are organized by the Defence Exhibition Organisation, Department of Defence Production and Ministry of Defence.

Over the years, Aero India has been a platform for not just military aircraft but also civil aviation and indigenous technological developments.

From modest beginnings, the event now sees participation from global aviation giants, startups, policymakers, and innovators, making it a significant calendar event for the industry.

Key milestones of Aero India include:

• 1996: The inaugural event featured modest participation, primarily focusing on India’s defense potential.

• 2005: The event gained international recognition with participation from major players like Boeing and Airbus.

• 2007: The introduction of live aerobatic displays by international teams like the Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team and others.

• 2013: Highlighting India’s indigenous aircraft like the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA).

• 2019: A record number of agreements were signed under the "Make in India" initiative.

• 2021: A focus on India as a hub for defense manufacturing, with several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between international players and Indian companies.

• 2023: Hosting over 700 exhibitors, including global giants like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Dassault Aviation, showcasing advancements in AI, drone technologies, and space applications.

• Dates: 10-14 February 2025

• Venue: Yelahanka Air Force Station, Bangalore.

• Timings: 09:00 am to 06:00 pm

• Participation: Over 50 countries and thousands of industry leaders, exhibitors, and government representatives.

• Do note that the first 3 days are dedicated to Business, while the last 2 days are open to the general public.

Aero India 2025: Global Participation

With over 800 exhibitors expected from 50+ countries, Aero India 2025 or Air Show 2025 will host delegations from major defense exporters like the USA, Russia, Israel, and France. The event will feature international collaborations, with India aiming to sign new defense MoUs.
