Northeast India or North Eastern Region (NER) is the eastern region of India covering eight states, namely - Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura are popularly known as the seven sisters and Sikkim the Brother state.
These sisters share international borders covering 5,182 km with several countries, 1,395 km with Tibet in the north; 1,640 km in the east with Myanmar; 1596 in the west with Nepal, and 455 in the Northeast with Bhutan.
Seven sisters together cover an area of 262,184 sqm, 8 percent of the total land in India.
