What is E Aasthi, and who administers it?

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike or BBMP is the body that regulates the infrastructural assets and civic facilities of the city of Bangalore. The properties, their transactions, their administration, and the paperwork comes under BBMP.

BBMP launched an online management system that keeps a record of the property ownership, transactions, and status. This online database is named the e-aasthi. This is designed to bring in more transparency, remove illegal transactions, curb fake documents, representative scams, and fraudulent properties.

It is designed to streamline property record management and establish electronic integration with registration. The database will hold about 46 types of information, that will include the photo of the property owner, photo of the property, and PID (Property Identity Number).

E-aasthi can also be utilized to update real estate transactions like land acquisition, inheritance, partition, sale, gift, will, and details on khata and khata bifurcation. BBMP is also planning to issue Khata certificates via e-aasthi.

The earlier version of Khata had only 18 types of information. With the newly launched e aasthi, there will be 46 types of information on details of the property, as mentioned earlier. There will be a digilocker for each citizen, and all this information will be directly delivered to the citizens via digilockers. With an Aadhaar card, all property owners can get a digilocker in which property documents can be stored online.

  • Property tax details can be viewed alongside other details.

  • The details will be integrated with a Geographic Information System Software.

  • The online procedure will be initiated through the property owner's Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

  • Records are signed digitally and issued when citizens demand them.

  • The citizens can view all the details in their digilockers for free.

  • Only you can open the locker with a code shared only with you.

  • It will cost Rs.125 to receive a hard copy of the digitized khata with a digital signature.

  • Facility to create new property records that are coming up.

  • Photo of the property owner will be attached to the documents, reducing the possibility of impersonation and fraud.

  • Since fake documents are eliminated from the Government's side, Banks can lend loans with more confidence.

  • The authenticity of the documents will be further strengthened as they are bar coded.

BBMP promises a transparent and smooth proceeding about the e-aasthi. Owners of illegal and unauthorized constructions, those who have committed deviations and violations might face problems with the implementation of E aasthi.
