What is the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Ayushman Bharat Card?

Ayushman Bharat, a flagship scheme of the Government of India, was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy 2017, to achieve the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).   1. Ayushman Bharat Card: Once the process is complete, you might receive a temporary Ayushman Bharat card on the spot. The permanent card will be delivered to your address later.

Financial Assistance: It offers cashless and paperless coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakh per family per year for medical expenses. This covers hospitalization costs for secondary and tertiary care, including:

  • Medical examination, consultation, and treatment

  • Pre-hospitalization and post-hospitalization expenses (up to 3 and 15 days, respectively)

  • Medicines and medical consumables

  • Diagnostic and laboratory services

  • Medical implant services (wherever possible)
