Hyderabad has received an overwhelming response, with over 200,000 people using it on the first day of its launch and over 240,000 on the first Sunday using the metro. 490,000 people use the Hyderabad metro regularly for their daily transit.

L&T establishes, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd (L&TMRHL) on 28 November 2017, which was inaugurated by the PM - Mr Narendra Modi.

Hyderabad covers a 30 km stretch from Miyapur to Nagole with stops in 24 stations. The longest Indian Metro line opened all at once. As per cost estimations INR 18,800 crore for the Metro project completion.

490,000 people used the Metro daily as of 2020. The metro trains are extremely crowded during the morning and evening peak hours. On 7 May 2018, a special-ladies-only coach was included. Post-COVID over 450,000 passengers used the metro for daily transit, as on December 2022.

In May 2018 L&T and Powergrid Corporation of India signed a contract to provide electric charging facilities at all metro stations in Hyderabad.

Currently, Hyderabad has 56 stations. The first phase of the Hyderabad Metro will have 64 stations with elevators and escalators. Hyderabad Metro has also laid roads underneath the bridges for commuters' pick and drop to reach metro stations.

Hyderabad Metro Rail : Metro Lines

The Hyderabad Metro Lines are marked with many different colours. Ameerpet -LB Nagar metro track began its operation on 24 September 2018. Nagole to Raidurga inauguration took place on 29 November 2019, As it includes the construction of 49 pillars and the Raidurg metro station. The Ameerpet-LB Nagar metro stretch's inauguration took place on 24 September 2018.

  • The Red Line from Miyapur to LB Nagar is 29 Km in length with 27 stations

  • Green Line from JBS to Falaknuma, a 15 Km stretch has 16 station

  • Blue Line from Raidurg to Nagole covering 27 Km with 23 station

All the stations are elevated linking other corridors. The trains operate with a 3 mins frequency during the peak hours, and 5 min in the Miyapur -LB Nagar stretch. A 4 mins frequency during peak hours in the Ameerpet and Nagole stretch.

A treat to frequent flyers, with Hyderabad metro reaching on time and with 3 mins trains frequency, frequent flyers can avoid awkward situations of missing flights.

On 26 March 2018, Hyderabad Metro launches a special train company the Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) to build and develop Special Airport Metro services.

Covering 31 km of Airport Metro corridor with 27 Km of elevated and 1 Km underground track which connects to the airport terminal. The track ranges from Raidurga Metro termination station. The overall construction cost estimation to build the special Airport Metro was INR 6,250 crores.

Telangana CM Mr K. Chandrashekar Rao laid the first foundation stone to start the construction on 9 December 2022. The cost for the construction of the special airport metro estimated is estimated at around INR 6,250 crore.
