Every Year we think of new and creative ways to decorate our homes for the arrival of Lord Ganesha.

Like our birthday, we decorate our homes in different ways with all the glory to celebrate the birthday of our favourite deity.

Ganapati is the time to put our creative hats on and come up with simple Ganesh Chaturthi decor ideas that not just look great but are also easy on our pockets. But sometimes, due to our busy schedules and working from home, we have to settle for what's available in the market right.

Anyway, the spirit of this festival remains high in the hearts of all devotees, calling out Ganpati Bappa Maurya!

Thus with such a level of eagerness, we often get confused about the decorations that look classy and also budget-friendly at the same time! The solutions we find and come up with often end up not being feasible, and thus, in the end, it gets messed up.

So to help you with this, we'll provide you with some simple yet creative ideas for Ganapati Decoration at home to welcome him with an open heart and beautiful decorations so that Ganapati showers his blessings on you; forever and ever!!

1. Flowers & Fragrance

Every one of us knows that flowers are very close to the heart of all the major deities. Thus there is no better option than to decorate our home temple, or we should say, "Ganapati Home".

  • You can choose fresh flowers to match the attire of the Ganesha Idol.

  • Choose seasonal flowers like mogras and marigolds.

  • Keep the floral arrangement to two colours of flowers. You can add some greens to the arrangement by using some leaves from your garden.

  • Flowers will last longer if they get ample fresh water. The stems should be about two inches into the water, and the water must be changed every day.

  • Do not forget to recycle your flowers. You can dry them and use them like potpourri.

2. Theme Decorations

The peacock theme is all the rage now. You can use a table or a cabinet to create a peacock theme look. Just place thermocol peacock cutouts in the front and peacock feather behind the Ganapathi idol, or you can place a wooden plank and add grass to create a village theme or look. Add a hut or a windmill and fence in there. Decorate the background with colourful fabric.

Decorate the floor using cotton and sprinkle some glitter on top. Now just place clouds, stars and the moon made out of thermocol sheets. Also, paint the background as the sky. you can choose from many more exciting themes based on the space and material you have available.

3. Glass Jar Lanterns

Candles are a cliché and don't last long. Try something new, for like, lanterns. Let your unused, old glass jars to good use. This pocket-friendly trick will make the decoration look classier and prettier.

Turn the jars into lanterns by placing small LED bulbs inside and beautify them with glitters. Just Hang them around or even keep them in different corners of the house. You can never get it wrong with diyas, either. Bring home simple, earthen lamps, and decorate them the way you like. Use acrylic colours to paint them, decorate with glitter or beads, and brighten up your home with a simple yet elegant piece.

4. Paper Quelling

Paper quelling is fun art, long thin strips of paper are rolled and pinched into different shapes to form decorative articles. This idea can be used to decorate photo frames, gift bags or make jewellery. You will be surprised to know that they can also be used for decorations during the Ganesha festival by making flower bouquets or decorative designs. There are a lot of simple videos available on YouTube to learn the art.

Enjoyed origami as a child? You can try the paper art this year for decorating 'Bappa's' mandap. You can get creative and make trees, flowers and rivers, or try to make Ganesha-motifs with paper. Use colourful origami sheets to make things like birds, butterflies, and decorate them on the wall.

5. Go Green

When we say 'Go Green', we mean it literally pick up all your plants and place them around the Ganapathi pandal. Go natural, decorate Ganpati with fruits and vegetables. Use grapes, pears, apples, pineapples, ladyfingers and beans for decorations
