This project is administered by the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

The goal of NGDRS is to address the unique requirements of each Indian state. Numerous states in India adopted it, including NGDRS Goa, NGDRS Punjab, and NGDRS Jharkhand.

  1. A single data structure and source code are used across India.
  2. According to the Registration Act, the State IGR (Inspector General Of Registration and Stamps) is the Data Custodian.
  3. NGDRS has eKYC-based Pan verification and UID authentification.
  4. Emergency registration is possible using a paid Tatkal appointment system.
  5. The SMS facility is activated to send alerts to the citizens.
  6. NGDRS has unicode-based language support.
  7. Facilitates linkage with the Land records system.
  8. Provides Hierarchy-based maker/checker facility.
  9. Provides storage of a copy of registered documents using scanning technologies.

How NGDRS Works

The NGDRS enhances in the following ways:

  1. Citizens must register on the NGDRS website by entering their citizenship type, address, email address, username, and password, providing all necessary details.
  2. Property valuation is available to the registered residents. They only need to choose the right financial year and provide the property's location, survey number, and usage.
  3. After providing all the required information, users can conduct an online property valuation and save the details.
  4. Reports on the value of properties can be viewed online.

States which have implemented NGDRS

Until 31st December 2019, NGDRS has been implemented in seven states of India. Now the number has increased.

Currently, the States and Union Territories implementing NGDRS are Andaman & Nicobar, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu, Delhi, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Ladakh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Punjab, Tripura and Uttarakhand.

Latest updates of NGDRS

The NGDRS was implemented throughout Assam by the Secretary of the Department of Land Resources, Smt. Nidhi Khare. Additionally, the launch of the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) and the seeding of geo-referenced cadastral maps were announced.

The Assam government's Special Chief Secretary, Shri Syedain Abbasi, began a pilot project to implement blockchain technology in land records in the Darrang district. The event was organized by the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management.
