Kodachadri - Trek Above the Clouds

Kodachadri, also known as Kudajadri, is a mountain range situated in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. Kudremukh, Kodachadri, and Kumara Parvatha are the 3 famous mountain peaks in the Western Ghats of coastal Karnataka.

Trekking Guide for Kodachadri

Two trekking routes are found to reach Kodachadri Peak. One is from Kattinahole to Hidlumane Falls, and the other is from Valur Santhosh Hotel. These two hiking trails are described below.

You should know that the Kodachadri trek does not end at the Kodachadri Information Point. From this point, you can take another 2 km walk to Kodachadri sunset point, which takes about 40 minutes.

Kodachadri Trek over Hidlumane Waterfalls: If you want to try Kodachadri Trek over Hidlumane Waterfalls, you need to start from Katina Caves. There is no road from Kattinahole to Hidlumane Falls, and it should pass through farms, villages, and communities, and it is also difficult to trek.

Trekking Duration: Approximately 6 hours (including rest and play at Hidlumane Falls)

Kodachadri Trek Via Santhosh Hotel, Valur: The second route starts from Sampekette-kollur-Nagara road.

From the Kattinahole side, take the Jeep ride unless and until you think you can drive on a trail. One can drive up to the peak of the Kodachadri hill. However, the last 10 Km of the drive is uphill. As the road condition to Kodachadri peak could be better. It is advisable to take a 4x4 vehicle, or one can easily drive a bike. Driving with a pillion might be a problem during monsoon. You can book the entire jeep for around 2500-3000 rupees. Otherwise, you can pay around 300-400 per head for the shared jeep alone.
