All About Namma Metro Green Line - New Extension

The most awaited green line extension of Bangalore's Namma Metro is to be opened soon!

With the trial run in the new Nagasandra-Madavara Green Line extension being estimated to take place by the mid of August 2024, the Bangalore's Namma Metro Extension to planned to be opened by September 2024.

The new extension of the Green Line, from Nagasandra to Madavara, will have 3 stations, including Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara. The construction of Manjunath Nagar and Chikkabidarakallu has already been completed. The finishing work of Madavara Metro Station is currently ongoing and is estimated to open soon.

With the extension from Nagasandra Metro Station to Madavara Metro Station being opened by the end of September 2024, the length of Bangalore's Namma Metro Green Line will be stretched to 34.46km.

Namma Metro Green Line - An Overview

Connecting Nagasandra in the north to Silk Institute in the south, the Green Line of Bangalore's Namma Metro enhances the connectivity between North & South Bangalore, Karnataka. The Green Line stretches a length of 30.5km from north to south and boasts a total of 26 elevated and 3 underground metro stations. The Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, Majestic Metro Station connects the Green Line to the Namma Metro Purple Line and is the only interchange in the Green Line metro. All this is part of the Phase 1 of the Green Line Metro project.

As per the latest reports, Phase 2 of Namma Metro Green Line connecting Nagasandra Metro Station to Madavara Metro Station, a 3.7km extension is yet to be opened in 2024. And this will further upgrade the connectivity between the north and the south.

As mentioned above, the Green Line of Bangalore's Namma Metro project starts from Nagasandra in the north and ends at Silk Institute in the south. Opened way back on March 1, 2014, the entire Green Line Metro Bangalore spans a length of 30.69 km with 2 tracks.

The Namma Metro Green Line is divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 comprises a total of 29 stations. Phase 2 of Green Line is yet to be operational. 3 stations including Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara, stretching from Nagasanda Metro Station will extend the line to 34.46 km from Madavara Metro Station to Silk Institute Metro Station, offering a total of 32 stations in Bangalore Metro Green Line.

Nagasandra to Madavara Extension - Namma Metro Green Line Phase 2

The Green Line of Bangalore's Namma Metro will receive its phase 2 extension. As part of this extension. As part of this Phase 2 extension project, 3 other stations will be opened stretching from Nagasandra Metro Station. With the completion of this phase 2 extension, the Namma Metro Green Line will be stretched to a total length of 34.46km with a total of 32 stations.

The upcoming new stations as part of the Phase 2 extension are:

With the new extension, the Green Line will be enhancing the rapid connectivity to the way-far to North Bangalore. The construction process is estimated to be completed by the end of July. The new extension will be opened for commercial run by September 2024.

As a trial run through the Green Line new extension is to be commenced by the middle of August, the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety is yet to give the clearance.
