Channasandra is a village in the Tirumala Shetti Halli neighborhood of Kadugodi Nagondahalli on Bangalore's eastern limits. The village is situated between Bangalore Rural and Bangalore Urban, with Dakshinapenakini, a lake that originates in the Nandi Hills, dividing it from the rural districts. It has a sizable population, including many migrants, and is a part of the Mahadevapura Vidhan Sabha constituency.
Most people in Channasandra are devotees of Lord Shiva, Kempegowda (the founder and creator of Bangalore), and Basava (the one who established Anubhava Mantapa). The communities with the largest populations in the area are the Ksthariya and Vokaliga (Gowda) communities, then Veerashaiva Lingayath. The locals have immense respect for Lord Shiva's Nandi, known as Basava, and Lord Parvati's avatars, Savaramma and Kateeramma.
