State-Wise Land Records will be available in 22 Languages

Says Rural Development Ministry.

June 15, 2023: The Ministry of Rural Development has declared that the state-wise land records will soon be viable in 22 languages. With this development, citizens can access their land-related information in their preferred language. The ministry is working hard on rolling out multi-lingual records available PAN India, via a dedicated land records portal and the project is expected to be completed by the end of July 2023.

Land Resource Department of Rural Development ministry shares, "The project was executed on the direction of the Prime Minister's Office following.

Multilingual State-Wise land records will furbish details such as property-related information -Name, size of the lane, and location. Which makes it easier transactions between both parties - Buyers and Sellers.

Digitisation has affected every industry in India possible, however, it has impacted the real estate industry to a large extent. Prior to digitisation, all the records were maintained and recorded manually by the Tahsidar. The lack of maintenance of land records leads to property litigations, scams, and property disputes. These records help to overcome issues relating to properties, and the government decided to digitise the land records.

What are Land Records?

State Land records are documents of a property which include details such as the land ownership, location, transaction, etc., of the property. Bhoomi Land records comprise documents such as Property Registration, Mutation Registration, Records of Rights (RoRs), and Property Disputed case registers among others.

Before digitisation, to check the property details owners must approach the sub-registrar offices, to check land records. With digitisation of the land records, land records can be accessed from anywhere conveniently.

In 2008, the government of India initiated "Digital India Land Record Modernisation Program (DILRMP), earlier known as the National Land Records Modernisation Program (NLRMP).

Land Records, Cadastral Maps (BhuNaksha), Land Records Registration and Land Records Mutation are all digitised under the DILPMP program launched by the government. Property Settlement records are also digitised to reduce land disputes.

Around 90% of the states in India have digitised land records and the remaining states are in the process of digitising the land records. Periodically, the government updates these land records after surveying land parcels.
