Kovai Tulasi Enclave

Annur is a taluk headquarters of Annur Taluk. It is a suburb of Coimbatore, located northeast about 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the city's center. The nearest airport is Coimbatore International Airport, about 27 kilometers (17 miles) and the nearest railway station is Mettupalayam, which is about 21 kilometers (13 miles) away. Other cities nearby Annur are Mettupalayam, which is 21 kilometers (13 miles) away in the west, Avanashi, which is 18 kilometers (11 miles) away in the east, and Punjai Puliampatti, which is about 18 kilometers (11 miles) in the north.

The name Annur is believed to have come from "Vanniyur," later changed to Anniyur and presently to Annur. The legend behind the name says that, quite a while back, it began draining when a little tracker hit a stone under a "Vanni" tree.

Annur is easily accessible by roads, including the National Highway 209 (New NH948) (Coimbatore to Bangalore parkway) and the State Highway 80, SH-80 Avanashi to Mettupalayam goes through Annur.
