Pozhichalur is one of the rapidly developing residential localities situated in Chennai. Talking about the locality's history, Pozhichalur is the short, easy-to-remember current name for what was originally known as Pugazh Chola Nalloor (a famous town of the Chola Kingdom in Tamil). The Cholas founded this town in the 9th century CE and also gave it its most iconic monument, the Agastheeswarar Temple. 'Thaangal,' a little pond, was a significant location in this community until 1997; it housed migrating birds during the wet seasons; encroachment led to its demise.

Public transit in Pozhichalur is still in its early stages. Only two buses run on Parry's route, while buses on the Chromepet route run often. A bus can take you to Pallavaram in 5 minutes, and plenty of share-autos (regular autos transformed into share-autos) are available for commuting. 52 and 60G for Parry's route, M1P for Thiruvanmiyur through Velachery, and M52, M52B, 52S, and S81 buses, among others, for the Chromepet route. 52 G runs along the Pozhichalur border from Gowl bazaar to Broadway and Guduvancherry.

Pozhichalur is home to the Pozhichalur Agastheeswarar Temple, which is around 800 years old and features a large pond on the temple's western side. This Tamil Nadu temple is known as the Agastheeswarar temple because Agasthiyar is claimed to have worshipped Shiva here on his return from the Himalayas, and the Amman is known as Anandavalli. The nearest rail station is Pallavaram Railway Station.

Pozhichalur showcases excellent social and physical infrastructure, including well-established public amenities such as - educational institutes, medical centers, parks, roadways, etc. Some of the prominent schools located in Pozhichalur are Annai Vailankanni Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Bright Minds Crescent Pre-School, Marya Nivas Matriculation School, Sri Sarada Eashwar Vidya Mandir Mat Hr Sec School, Sri Shankara Vidyalaya, etc.

Pozhichalur is located on the banks of River Adyar, a key water source of the locality. Located adjacent to the Chennai International Airport, the locality has been renowned and enjoys an excellent surge in the real estate industry. The locality is well-connected to other parts of the cities of Chennai through the Pozhichalur Main road, offering excellent connectivity to nearby transport services, including rail and air. Tirusulam is the closest railway station, with a distance of 4km via the Old Trunk road.

Even though Pozhichalur shows few promising employment opportunities within the locality, the region has easy access to several prominent IT parks. Some renowned Tech Parks nearby are Olympia Tech Park, Commerzone, Ascendas IT Park, Tamarai Tech Park, etc.
