Electronic City, nicknamed e-city, was the cornerstone for building Bangalore as the Silicon Valley of India. This locality is the brainchild of RK Balinga, the first Chairman and Managing director of Comics, Karnataka Electronic.

Keonics established Electronic City in 1978 on about 330 acres of land in Konappana Agrahara and Doddathogur villages. It is now one of India's largest Information Technology Industrial Parks.

Electronic City, alongside other major IT parks, has made India the outsourcing capital of the world. The locality hosts offices of some of the world's largest conglomerates, such as Wipro, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Infosys, Fidelity, HCL, HP, 3M, and Bosch.

Electronic City is well-connected with the rest of the city via numerous ways, including Heelalige Railway Station, Electronic City Flyover, Hosur Road, and NICE Ring Road connects to Mysore Road, Bannerghatta Road, Kanakapura Road, and Tumkur Road.

Also, the Namma Metro Yellow Line project that is expected to be complete by 2026 connects Electronic City via metro as well.

Electronic City is also home to institutions like IIIT Bangalore, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship, Welingkar Institute Of Management, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, and IFIM.
