After Baichegowda acquired the region that had been stolen by the Mysore king, Sri Dodda Byregowda rose to power.

After that, Chikkappa Nayaka attempted to reclaim his powers with the help of Murariraya of Guthy. He and Chikkappa Nayaka were hiding at Nandi Hills. Hyder Ali quickly seized Chikkaballapur and other locations, arresting Chikkappa Nayaka. Then, with Lord Corn Wallis' intervention, Chikkaballapur was given to Narayanagowda. Tippu Sultan repurchased Chikkaballapur after learning of this. In 1791, the British captured Nandi and handed the town over to Narayanagowda. Because of this betrayal, a conflict erupted between the British and Tippu Sultan. Narayanagowda was ousted from power. Later, the British overcame Tippu in bloody combat that resulted in massive casualties on both sides. Chikkaballapur's residents, on the other hand, refused to be conquered and preserved their warrior pride.
